Blood of the Elders uses a priority system called EPGP to handle loot. The priority of a raider is computed as the quotient of:
• Effort Points (EP), expressing the work a raider has done for the guild, and • Gear Points (GP), expressing the value of the loot he/she has recieved.
EP divided by GP results in a raider's Priority Rating (PR). The higher PR, the higher the raider's chance of getting loot.
Effort points (EP):
Effort points are earned at an hourly rate by participating in raids. The current rate is 100 EP per hour, starting at 19:30. Furthermore, a bonus of 100 EP is awarded to the people taking part in the first succesful hard mode kill of a boss.
Minimum EP: We currently have a minimum EP level of 1500. If your EP is below that, you will automatically have lower priority than the people above. This serves both as an attendance check for older members, as well as a check point for trialists.
Gear Points (GP):
Unlike a normal DKP system, points are not spent on gear. Instead, a raider gets assigned a number of Gear Points expressing the value of the loot recieved. The amount of GP an item is worth depends on the Item Level (a Coliseum item is worth more than one from Naxxramas), the equipment slot it fills (weapons are worth more than a chest piece, which is worth more than a cloak) and the class using it (a ranged weapon is worth more to a Hunter than a Warrior, with the opposite being true for a melee weapon). In the end though, a full set of gear of the same Item Level will be worth the same amount of GP to all players, no matter their class. An item's GP worth can be seen in its tooltip by downloading and installing the EPGP addon.
Base GP: Everyone in the guild has a base GP value of 300, which is added before computing a raider's PR. This prevents a person's GP from decaying to 0 (thus making their PR infinite).
Decay:
After the Tuesday raid (just before weekly maintenance), EP and GP for the entire guild is decayed by 20%. This helps keep the numbers in the system at a comfortable level, effectively puts a cap on EP hoarding, while still keeping the priority between raiders.
Standby EP:
Raiders who have signed up for the raid but put on standby are eligible for the same amount of EP as the ones in the raid. Raiders who have not signed up are not eligible for EP in any form.
Getting standby EP will require you to whisper the officer responsible with the text "epgp standby <character name>" (without qoutes and brackets). This can be done from any character, as long as <character name> is the name of your main.
An announcement will be made after initial raid invitations are done, after which you send the standby whisper. Each time EP is awarded during the raid, an announcement will go out in Guild Chat as well as to the players on standby. If you sent the initial standby whisper from an alt, that alt will also be the one that recieves the announcement. The standby list is then reset and you will have to reapply yourself by whispering the EPGP officer yet again. This also serves to show that you are reasonably active and available.
Applying and reapplying for standby EP is the sole responsibility of the raider. If there's a tech issue with the awards (addon messing up, officer doing a /reloadui and clearing the standby list etc.), then we will of course award the missing points (but it might have to wait until after the raid is over). In any case, as there is a lot going on during raids, issues will have to wait with being brought up until after the raid.
